Leia's 1st Birthday

We celebrated Leia's 1st birthday last month. Unfortunately it wasn't under the happiest of circumstances. Blaine's grandpa had passed away and we were in Boise for the funeral. So even though it was a sad occurence, she was surrounded by family and we were able to celebrate by swimming, going to the children's museum and staying in a hotel suite. I don't think she will mind. I had every intention of making her a cake and having the traditional messy face pictures, etc. but, lets face it, that still hasn't happened. She gets plenty messy on a daily basis. Leia's stats for her 1 year check up are: Weight- 4th percentile
Height- 32nd percentile
Head- 52nd percentile

So in keeping tradition with my other kids-- she is small with a good sized head. She is a funny girl with such a personality. She will laugh along with others and wave, blow kisses, and is starting to take a few steps. She is a good sleeper and my best eater.

Jenna attempted to steal the spotlight on Leia's birthday while in Boise and the luncheon following the funeral. We were waiting to have our pictures taken when she found a bead and stuffed it up her nose. It was wedged pretty far up there and the consensus was to try and suck it out with a straw (her dad's job- yuck) and if that was unsuccessful to head to the closest ER. On the way back to the hotel, we stopped to get some straws of various diameters- we didn't know which was best. En route Jenna had calmed down and was accepting the fact that she may have to go see the doctor. At the hotel, Blaine laid her down on the couch and had her try blowing it out one more time. Luckily it came out a-flying and smacked Blaine on the cheek. JJ was so happy, she was crying. We were so happy not to have to go to the ER. The rest of the birthday weekend went off without a hitch.

Happy Birthday LeLe! We love you.

The entire family- yes, she has the bead in her nose here.

Thanks to Abbie for the pictures.

Ok..Leia's piggies are the funniest things ever. There's like five hairs in each one....so cute. They made me laugh and it does help show off her personality. Love her...
