We are slowly, but surely getting some things done around the house. Even though it will probably be awhile (if ever) before we finish it completely, we would like to get the basement livable for Jace before the baby comes. We took advantage of a few extra days off work and some extra hands courtesy of Chad and tackled the basement bathroom. It took us a few days and some late nights, but its looks fabulous. Here is a close up on the tile job that Blaine did such a good job on. We also finished the tape and texture on the walls and ceiling, painted, added and framed the mirror, and vanity and fixtures. We are loving it.
We have had plans in the works from the very beginning to make a sort of command center on the west wall of the basement. Little by little we added the cubbies for the toys and last year did the granite countertops. This year our project was the cabinets. We found a guy out of Burley who does some work for my dad and he gave us a great deal. We couldn't pass it up. We still need to hook up a light over the computer, but it has proven to be a great work space.
We are putting together the baby's room and are using the same cowboy theme as when Jace was a baby. Blaine's mom gave us this great Buck Jones print to add to our collection. We took a Saturday and Blaine made the frames, we stained them, and assembled the prints in them. We couldn't be happier with how they turned out.
I'm sure I have posted these before, but still just love them. We built them a couple of years ago. We took this dead space that house our furnace and water heater and turned it into a "built in" bookcase. One of the things I love most about Blaine is that he can take one of my crazy ideas and designs and actually make it a reality. These bookcases are on hinges and open when we need access to either the furnace or water heater. They add a lot to the space and give us more storage which is always a plus.
